Modular Boring Bars
ToolSaver specializes in servicing high performance modular boring bars, specifically carbide shank, heavy metal, and damped steel shank, including their modular heads. ToolSaver has decades of experience extending the life of these unique and expensive tools.

Deephole Drilling Heads
Another niche specialty of ToolSaver is servicing deephole drill heads, both fixed-pocket and cartridge style. Fixed-pocket drill heads are non-adjustable, and ToolSaver understands dimensional accuracy is critical. ToolSaver also repairs the cartridges utilized in the cartridge style drill heads. ToolSaver's special expertise in servicing these unique tools saves its customers tens of thousands of dollars annually when compared to replacing with new.

Quick PIC Quote
There are circumstances where confirmation that a tool is repairable (and a ballpark estimate) is prudent before sending it to us. Email or text our customer service department with a couple of pictures of the tool and we can take it from there. This is especially beneficial when turn-around is critical.

Turn-Around
Estimated lead time is dependent upon our backlog of repair tools when quote is provided (generally less than 2 weeks). Estimated lead time is provided on quotation.

Non-Repairable Tools
Our quoting department evaluates each tool requiring service when providing our quotation. The following circumstances may deem a tool not economically repairable (servicing charge would exceed 50% of replacement cost):

  • The tool has a low replacement cost
  • The tool was repaired by someone other than ToolSaver (overall dimensionality and metallurgy compromised)
  • The tool has experienced a severe crash (i.e. bent or cracked)

Promotion Tools
It is noteworthy that the cost to service promotion tools (even when the tool was free) may be justified when compared to the cost of purchasing another round of inserts (to qualify for another promotion tool). Furthermore, the promotion will eventually end and a new replacement must be purchased at full price. Having repaired backup tools on hand will be cost effective.

Tools Returned Unrepaired
During the repair process it may be discovered that a particular tool is more "tweaked" than originally evaluated. At that point all work will cease on that tool. It will be tagged with an explanation and returned with the rest of the order at no charge. In addition, while it is normally unnecessary to supply ToolSaver with inserts for gaging, new design tools may utilize proprietary inserts, which ToolSaver may not yet have in its insert library. In such case ToolSaver will tag the tool "need components" and return with the order. The order is considered complete. The unrepaired tool can be included with the next repair order with insert (and screws) taped to it for gaging.

Rush Tools
ToolSaver's emergency 24-hour rush service is available upon request. Please provide ToolSaver customer service a picture of the tool in advance so that we can confirm that the tool is repairable. Also, please include a full set of components for gaging. The rush charge is as follows:

  • TooSaver standard quote + 25% rush premium (or $150 setup fee) whichever is the least.
